Childbirth
“A Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant” is paid when an insured person gives birth. “A Dependents' Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant” is paid when a dependent family member gives birth. You must undertake specific procedures to add a newborn child as a dependent under the Sony Health Insurance Society.
Request a Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant
When using the system of direct payment of Childbirth and Childcare Lump-sum Grant to medical institutions
Submit the documents on agreement to use the system to the medical care institution or other facility where you plan to give birth. (No prior procedures with the Health Insurance Society are required. For details, check with the medical care institution or other facility where you plan to give birth.)
Even if you use this system, you must apply to the Health Insurance Society to receive additional benefits.

Copies of documents on agreement to use the system from the medical care institution or other facility (This must state that specifics such as the date of delivery, number of infants delivered, actual number of days hospitalized, amount received on your behalf, and the name of the medical care institution are consistent with the information on the claim form submitted to the Society and, in the case childbirth is conducted at an institution affiliated with the maternity medical care compensation scheme, must bear a stamp certifying that the delivery took place at a member institution.) |

Submit the following application to the Health Insurance Society if you have not used the system of direct payment of Childbirth and Childcare Lump-sum Grant to medical institutions or the system of receipt of the Childbirth and Childcare Lump-sum Grant directly by the medical institutions on your behalf.

If you would like to use the system of receipt of the Childbirth and Childcare Lump-sum Grant directly by the medical institutions on your behalf, submit the following application to the Health Insurance Society in advance.

Notes: | Small birthing facilities must have submitted notices to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to use the system of receipt of the Childbirth and Childcare Lump-sum Grant directly by the medical institutions on your behalf. Confirm this with the facility in advance. |
